On Pointe – Summer Dance Camps 2024
If your child loves to dance, check out our summer dance camps! These camps will explore many different styles of dance all in one week. Students will participate in movement classes that include jazz, ballet, hip hop, and basic tumbling for ages 3-5 years. The camps for ages 6-9 years and 10-13 years will experience techniques in jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, turns/technique, and contemporary styles of dance. These camps are geared towards beginner/intermediate-level students who would like to experience dance in a fun, easy going environment.
Note: For the camps, there will be a 15–20-minute lunch break for students to bring a nut-free lunch/snack. Also, bring a water bottle.

Teen Classes
These classes are for the intermediate/advanced student wanting to be challenged to improve their technique. Previous dance experience is recommended.
Day: Monday
Date: June 17 – July 15 (No Class July 1)
Age: 13 – 18 years
Ballet/Lyrical: 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Jazz: 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Fee: $40/NR $45
Dance Instructor – Ms. Kristen Bruns
Ms. Kristen received a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Illinois University and comes to the park district with 23 years of experience teaching ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and contemporary styles of dance. She said, “I have always enjoyed working with children and the fun and curiosity they exude. Teaching dance and sharing something I love with children seemed like the right path for me after dancing for much of my childhood.”
KAR Dance Competition
This Spring, the On Pointe Dance Troupe showcased their talents by performing 4 dances at the KAR competition held at the esteemed Rialto Theatre in Joliet. The dancers received prestigious Elite and Top awards, along with a judges’ choice award and two awards for achieving the highest score in their category. We are incredibly proud of our talented dancers!
